Symbian Anna upgrade available for the Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7

The Rogers Nokia X7 is already rocking the new Symbian Anna OS and now it’s available for the N8, C7, C6-01 and E7. Rogers has the N8, Videotron and WIND have the C7 and Bell has the C6-01.
In a press release today Nokia stated that “Symbian Anna – the latest software update for Symbiansmartphones – is available for download starting today*”… see that big asterisk there? Digging a bit deeper down the fine print at the bottom says “The precise rollout schedule of the Symbian Anna software update varies from market to market”. So for an official release us Canadians might have to wait until our carriers push the upgrade through.
This update brings a better new icons, browsing experience, a portrait QWERTY keyboard, NFC capabilities, updated maps and navigation and overall a better user interface. Ilari Nurmi, Vice President at Nokia. “Symbian Anna represents a significant update to the experience those users have and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Symbian, which will see up to 10 more phones introduced over the next 12 months, further updates to the user experience and support for the software until at least 2016.”
Nokia announced a revitalized version of the Symbian OS today… this was previously called “PR2″ but can now formally be called “Symbian Anna”. The major changes this version adopts are a fresh new set of icons (goes with their new logo), faster browser, improved text input and a new version of Ovi Maps. Nokia made a video of the new Anna OS and we’ve put a video below for you to check out. For those Canadians who have a N8, C7, C6-01 Nokia says that Symbian Anna will made available “in the coming months”.
